It adsorbs excess nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus and gradually releases them, while binding heavy metals. It regulates soil moisture during dry and wet periods, reduces water repellency in dry soils, shrinkage between watering cycles and compaction. It also encourages deeper root growth and helps the root system recover when plants are uprooted.
