"Milligan's War" is a single volume selected edition of Spike Milligan's war memoirs, published to celebrate Britain's funniest old soldier's seventieth birthday on April 16th, 1988. Adolf Hitler, Monty, Mussolini, Rommel (who?) – they all played their humble parts in World War II and the shaping of human destiny, but we all know where the real action was... Milligan's war captures it in words and pictures. The most subversive, quirky, and certainly the funniest military career ever undertaken by any bombardier of the 56th Heavy Regiment, Royal Artillery.
"The most irreverent, funny book about war I've ever read" - Sunday Express
"Desperately funny, lively, vulgar" - Sunday Times
"Milligan is the Great God for all of us" - John Cleese
"The Godfather of Alternative Comedy" - Eddie Izzard
"This absolutely wonderful perspective of seeing things differently. A great man" - Stephen Fry
