This slender oval icon of Saint Hypatius is depicted according to the traditions of Orthodox iconography. A lithographic reproduction of it is affixed to a piece of artificial wood, whose top side has a curved shape, adding extra elegance to the overall appearance.
Saint Hypatius, bishop of Gangra, was distinguished for his fight for Orthodoxy. He participated in the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea (325 AD) against Arius. During his ministry, he faced heresies, particularly those of the Naatzians. His success angered the heretics, who in 326 AD paid idolaters to attack him. After being beaten, an heretical woman killed him with a stone.
The icon is celebrated on March 31st. Dimensions: 11.5 X 10 cm.
