The Fanar carbide drill has a diameter of 11 mm and a cylindrical shank with a diameter of 12 mm. Oerlikon Balzers’ Futura Nano (TiAlN) PVD coating has a microhardness of 3300 HV and resistance to abrasive wear, while the cutting zone can operate at temperatures of up to 900 °C. The 140° point angle and Type C (Split Point) cutting edge are suited to drilling with CNC machine tools.
It is suitable for machining steel, cast iron, stainless and wear-resistant steel, aluminium, brass, copper, titanium, zinc and plastics. In less demanding materials, it can be used without coolant or with minimal coolant, and allows higher cutting speeds than high-speed steel tools. It complies with DIN 6537 K.
