The Fanar drill is made of solid carbide and features an Oerlikon Balzers Futura Nano (TiAlN) PVD coating. Its cutting tip has a 140° point angle and a Type C (split-point) edge correction, and it is designed for use on CNC machine tools.
The coating has a microhardness of 3300 HV and provides protection against abrasive wear, chemical and thermal stability, and operation at temperatures up to 900 °C. Dry machining or machining with minimal coolant is permitted when working with less demanding materials.
