The Fanar drill is made of solid carbide and is intended primarily for use in CNC machines. The PVD Futura Nano (TiAlN) coating protects against abrasive wear, has a surface microhardness of 3300 HV and allows operation at temperatures of up to 900 °C in the cutting zone, while offering high chemical and thermal stability. In less demanding materials, it can be used for dry machining or machining with minimal coolant.

It is suitable for carbon steel, low-alloy and high-alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminium, titanium, copper and plastics.
