Description

The photographic filter B+W Gray NDX8 0.9 MRC nano Master 86mm is manufactured by Schneider Kreuznach Optics, a company that has been producing B+W filters since 1947. It uses brass, optical-quality Schott glass, optical resin, and dyes.

The Schott glass is coated with 14 anti-reflective layers and 2 nano protective layers, and is mounted in a slim, matte black brass frame with a front thread.

The neutral density filter:

  • Reduces light by 3 stops without affecting color balance.
  • Allows for longer exposure times and wider apertures, enabling control of depth of field or motion effects.
  • Ideal for very bright conditions, such as snow, mountains, and beaches.
  • Also used for streams, waterfalls, vehicles, shallow depth of field, and high ISO settings.

It is denser than the 802 NDX4 and recommended for camcorders. It features MRC layers with metal oxide coatings, offering resistance to water, humidity, dust, dirt, and scratches. The outer nano layer reduces water and vapor adhesion, making cleaning with a soft cloth easier.

It includes a front thread for a second filter or accessories, such as a lens cap or hood. It can be used without vignetting with focal lengths from 17mm on full frame and 10mm on APS-C.

The package includes the filter.
