The Korg microKORG 2 is a compact digital synthesizer and vocoder, completely redesigned with a modern sound-generation engine (Analog Modeling Sound Engine) and upgraded technical features. It features 37 Natural Touch keys (mini keys) with velocity sensitivity, offering an excellent response and comfortable playability in a portable format. It includes a 2.8-inch color TFT LCD screen for an at-a-glance view of parameters and waveforms in real time, as well as 8-voice polyphony (in Single Mode) with Layering and Splitting capabilities (4 voices). It is also equipped with an advanced voice processor featuring an 11-band vocoder, Formant Shift, Pitch Correction, Hard Tune, and Vocal Harmonies, and comes with a dynamic gooseneck microphone (XLR). Finally, the option to run it on a power adapter or 6 AA batteries ensures complete freedom and portability.
Basic Features
Digital Modeling & Sound Architecture
The Korg microKorg 2 is based on a new Virtual Analog Synthesis engine, offering greater flexibility and a wider sonic range than its predecessor. It supports 8-voice polyphony in Single Mode and 4 voices in Dual or Split mode, allowing you to combine two different sounds simultaneously. The 256 programs are organized using a rotary selector by music genre and instrument category, providing quick access to vintage, modern, and experimental sounds.
Voice Processing, Vocoder & Effects
The system incorporates an advanced vocal processing unit (Vocal Processor), combining the classic functions of an 11-band Vocoder with modern effects such as Pitch Correction, Hard Tune, Formant Shift and automatic vocal harmony generation (Vocal Harmonies). The included Gooseneck dynamic microphone connects directly to the dedicated XLR input on the top panel of the synthesizer, enabling instant vocal processing and performance without the need for external equipment.
User Interface, Color Display & Loop Recorder
The 2.8-inch central color LCD provides a graphical display of parameters, tuning diagrams, and waveforms in real time. The 5 rotary controls (Control Knobs) below the screen let you adjust the filter, envelope, and effects directly. In addition, the microKorg 2 features a built-in Loop Recorder for creating and recording layered musical phrases (overdubbing).
Connectivity, Portability & Power Supply
In terms of connectivity, the instrument features a USB Type-C port for bidirectional MIDI and audio data transfer to a computer, traditional MIDI In/Out (5-pin DIN) ports, 2x 1/4" TS (L/Mono, R) analog outputs, a 1/4" headphone output, and an AUX In (3.5 mm TRS) input for connecting external audio sources. Weighing just 2.1 kg and powered by 6 AA batteries (or the included 9V power adapter), it offers complete portability for outdoor use, rehearsals, and live stage setups.
