The Korg microKORG 2 Black is a compact digital synthesizer and vocoder, completely redesigned with a modern Analog Modeling Sound Engine and upgraded features. It has 37 Natural Touch mini-keys with velocity sensitivity, offering excellent response in an especially portable design. It features a 2.8-inch color TFT LCD display for viewing parameters and waveforms in real time, along with 8-voice polyphony in Single Mode and the ability to layer and split sounds in Dual Mode. It also comes equipped with an advanced voice processor featuring an 11-band vocoder, Hard Tune, Pitch Correction, Formant Shift, and Auto-Harmonizer, and includes a gooseneck condenser microphone. Finally, it offers a built-in Loop Recorder, 3 independent effects engines, and the option to run on either an AC adapter or batteries for complete portability.

Digital Modeling & Sound Architecture

The Korg microKorg 2 Black is based on a new Virtual Analog Synthesis engine, offering greater flexibility and a wider sonic range than its predecessor. It supports 8-voice polyphony in Single Mode and 4 voices in Dual or Split mode, allowing you to combine two different sounds simultaneously. The 256 programs are organized using a rotary selector by music genre and instrument category, providing quick access to vintage, contemporary, and experimental sounds.

Voice Processing, Vocoder & Effects

The system features an advanced Vocal Processor that combines classic 11-band Vocoder functions with modern effects such as Pitch Correction, Hard Tune, Formant Shift and automatic harmony generation (Auto-Harmonizer). The included gooseneck condenser microphone connects directly to the instrument’s XLR input, allowing you to apply vocal effects on the spot without the need for external equipment.

User Interface, Color Display & Loop Recorder

The 2.8-inch central color LCD provides a graphical display of parameters, tuning diagrams, and waveforms in real time. The 5 rotary controls (Control Knobs) below the screen let you adjust the filter, envelope, and effects directly. In addition, the microKorg 2 features a built-in Loop Recorder for creating and recording layered musical phrases (overdubbing).

Connectivity, Portability & Power Supply

In terms of connectivity, the instrument is equipped with a USB Type-C port for bidirectional MIDI and audio data transfer to a computer/DAW, traditional MIDI In/Out (5-pin DIN) ports, 2x 1/4" TS (L/Mono, R) analog outputs, a 1/4" Stereo headphone output, and an AUX In (3.5 mm TRS) input. Weighing 2.1 kg and able to run on 6 AA batteries, it offers complete portability for outdoor use, rehearsals, and live stage setups.
