This book is aimed at students who are being introduced to the Chinese language and wish to participate in the level 1 certification exams – HSK1.

Specifically, students learn:

• the pīnyīn writing system, tones, and pronunciation rules
• basic verbs
• uses of 的 (de)
• pronouns (personal, reflexive, demonstrative, possessive, interrogative, relative)
• adverbs
• measure words
• the 157 ideograms that are tested in the level 1 language certification

Additionally, they gradually become familiar with the basic characters – ideograms of the Chinese language and the methodology used for writing them.
