Description

The DC 3P 1.2V X1-T2-DC-3P lightning protection panel is dedicated to protecting photovoltaic installations. It is equipped with an optical operating indicator (green - protected, red - unprotected). It protects against surges caused by indirect strikes and switching processes - Type 2 lightning protection panels. It features built-in thermal protection - no additional thermal protection is required (although it is always recommended).

Technical Description:

  • Protection Class: T2 (C DC)
  • Design: varistor
  • Poles: 3P
  • Required Protection: 32A
  • Maximum Connections: 35mm²
  • Nominal Operating Voltage: Un 1200V DC
  • Test Current: In (8/20) 20 kA
  • Maximum Current: Imax (8/20) 40 kA
  • Protection Level at Voltage: Up <4.0 kV
  • Storage Temperature: -30 / +70 °C
  • Operating Ambient Temperature: -30 / +50 °C
  • Ingress Protection Class: IP 20
  • Mounting: on 35 mm rail
  • Optical action indicator

Application:

The presented lightning protection panels are designed to protect photovoltaic installations from inductive and connection voltages, as well as voltages caused by weather conditions. They can also be installed in distribution panels and branch and floor distribution panels to protect electrical installations and sensitive devices. The protection is provided by varistors, with the main advantage being their high operating speed. They can change from high resistance to low in less than 25 ns. Due to their small size, they have a high energy absorption capability. Varistors are used for surge protection in both alternating and direct current circuits.

Types/Classes of Lightning Protection Panels:

Effective surge protection requires staging, meaning it works over multiple fluctuations. For this reason, a three-stage surge protection system is used in power installations. It consists of Type 1, 2, and 3 arresters according to the PN-EN 61643-11 standard.

  • Type 1 Lightning Protection Panel: Used to protect against high-voltage surges caused by direct or close strikes. Its duty is to limit the voltage rise to less than 4 kV.
  • Type 2 Lightning Protection Panel: Used to limit the surge voltage to 1 - 1.5 kV, protecting devices from interruptions and low surges, but it may pose a threat to sensitive devices.
  • Type 3 Lightning Protection Panel: Used for direct protection of selected sensitive devices. It is installed in the panel or behind the socket in the electrical cabinet, or directly at the device.
