The shoe falls into the Cushioning/Neutral category, which is why I bought it. It is as soft as it should be, because in some shoes it goes beyond normal, and I believe it's not good to be completely untrained musculoskeletally. The outer sole is harder (rubber, as stated in the description) and is combined with a very soft midsole, which serves the Cushioning purpose, but without losing stability, unlike my previous shoe. I hope the hard outer sole will help prevent it from wearing out quickly. What impressed me the most is the way it hugs the entire foot. It fit me incredibly well. The tongue is also very nice, as are the laces. If anything comes up as I log more miles, I will add it. In some runs I did at a faster pace, the feeling is very good.
