Description

The Ryzen 9 9900X3D is a 12-core / 24-thread processor with 2nd generation AMD 3D V-Cache™ Technology, designed for enthusiast gamers, streamers, and content creators who want top performance in gaming and productivity, but do not necessarily need the 16 cores of the Ryzen 9 9950X3D.

Targeted at:

Enthusiast Gamers – Thanks to the 192MB L3 cache, it offers high FPS and low latency in esports and AAA games.

Streamers & Content Creators – The 12 cores & 24 threads ensure smooth streaming and video editing without stuttering.

PC Builders & Enthusiasts – For those who want a high-end system, but do not need the additional cost of the 16-core 9950X3D.

Professionals – Optimized for multitasking, CAD, 3D rendering, and AI-based applications with high cache demands.

Comparison with the Previous Generation

The Ryzen 9 9900X3D is the new improved version of the Ryzen 9 7900X3D, with enhancements in architecture, cache, per-core performance (IPC), and energy efficiency.

Main Improvements of the Ryzen 9 9900X3D

New Zen 5 architecture – Improvement of 15-20% in per-core performance (IPC) compared to Zen 4.

Larger cache – From 128MB to 192MB, improving FPS and stability in gaming.
Improved gaming performance – Even faster data processing and lower latency.
Better DDR5 memory support – Official support for DDR5-6400+ for better overall performance.
Improved energy efficiency – Lower consumption for the same or even higher performance.

Next-level power

Break down every barrier standing between you and victory with the raw power and performance of AMD Ryzen™ 9000 Series processors. Herald the dawn of a new era with AMD's latest Zen 5 architecture, the key to unlocking unprecedented levels of processing power. With Zen 5, AMD achieved significant improvements in branch prediction accuracy and latency, while also expanding pipelines and vectors for increased throughput. The result is a substantial boost in single-threaded IPC, with an increase of ~16% compared to the previous generation.

The ultimate artificial intelligence platform

The platform behind the AMD Ryzen 9000 Series processor is optimized for enabling lightning-fast AI - only AMD can enable full PCIe Gen-5 storage speeds simultaneously with the full 16 PCIe lanes for graphics. This means that your customers do not have to compromise with the complexity of the AI model for ultimate storage speeds.

Trusted technologies to further enhance experiences
The capabilities of AMD Ryzen processors do not stop at silicon. AMD's software teams continue to provide excellent support for customers who wish to make the most of their processors, whether it is achieving maximum frame rates in games or utilizing every ounce of system performance for creative tasks. AMD customers can look forward to support from the software and applications they have come to know and love from AMD over the years.

Personally, I am not an AMD fanboy but I have found my peace with their processors. Great processor, very powerful, fast, has many overclocking options (for those interested), relatively cool, with a good motherboard—personally I have an Asus X870E Gaming E—and with good liquid cooling, it's perfect even in the summer. Also, for gaming, I consider it one of the top choices at the moment. Its price is a bit steep but that's the case with all computer components nowadays. I have no opinion on productivity etc., I am a gamer. I am very satisfied, coming from a 5900x, it is noticeably better but not wow, at least for the use I make of it. Note, I am not talking about having many tabs open or running many programs at the same time etc. Even older processors handle those just fine. If you can afford it, definitely get it. Also, a suggestion for liquid cooling: Arctic Liquid Freezer III Pro 360 or 420, you'll be amazed both by the price and, more importantly, by the cooling performance.

This processor is capable of everything, it will have already opened the application before you even press it. Combined with the x870e aurus elite wifi 7, with 64gb ddr5 ram and an rtx 3090, it runs any game you want like rdr2 at 2k resolution and everything on ultra at at least 90fps. The only small complaint I have is that now in the summer, even with water cooling, you'll have 50c degrees on the desktop, but in games it doesn't reach 80c degrees. Overall, I highly recommend it to everyone
