The Sigma 16-300mm f/3.5-6.7 DC OS Contemporary lens is a zoom lens with a variable aperture and a focal length of 16–300 mm. Its construction includes low-dispersion glass elements and four aspherical elements, while its optical design limits flare and ghosting. The HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) supports fast, precise autofocus with tracking for moving subjects.

Image stabilization uses the OS2 algorithm and compensates for up to 6 stops of camera shake at 16 mm. The maximum magnification ratio is 1:2 at 70 mm, 1:3 at the wide-angle end, and 1:4 at the telephoto end. The lens is dust- and splash-resistant, while the front element has a water-repellent coating and the zoom lock switch prevents the lens from extending during storage.
