As a device, it is quite good for starting to get into the Ubiquiti ecosystem. Its wifi is solid with countless customizations, as is the whole network. Now, getting into the more technical aspects, there is a major flaw that hasn't been mentioned—of course, I don't know how many people use it this way. If you just set it to DHCP mode, meaning it gets an IP from the ISP's router and handles VLAN, IP, etc. itself, everything works perfectly: device-to-device speed is very good, and the output speed maxes out the line easily, as if nothing can slow it down, even with IDS/IPS enabled. The problem appears if you want to use it with a Public IP externally. That is, to have it make the PPPoE call itself, with the main router in bridge mode or removed entirely. Unfortunately, there is an issue here, as Ubiquiti, at least in this model, does not offload PPPoE, resulting in barely reaching 500 Mbps output with IDS off, and with IDS on, I see 300 Mbps. This is a big mistake, considering that a Deco, even though it has far fewer features, would give full bandwidth on PPPoE. In summary, if you just want it to get internet without a Public IP, then yes, it is an excellent device with amazing speed, customization, and security. If you are considering it for an office that needs a public IP for VPN, etc., I would suggest looking at something like the UCG Fiber or larger models like the SE. Tip: to connect PPPoE on Cosmote at least (which I have), do not set a VLAN, just enter the username and password and it will work.
Update 21/02/26 (SOLVED) I don't know if this is general or if my combination caused this bug. I did a factory reset and did not connect it with a mobile for the initial setup, but did it normally from the PC like traditional routers. I did an offline initial setup and then connected it to my UI account. Like magic, everything now works perfectly; it maxes out the line with PPPoE, with IDS, with VLANs, with failover

I come from UDR in combination with U6+. I switched to Wifi7 with MLO. Like the UDR, it is top-notch. The solutions that Ubiquiti offers are the UDR7 & UX7. Technical specifications are the same, with the difference that the UDR7 has more ports (including 10gbit), PoE, and installation of all apps except for the network. Personally, I also use Protect with cameras. I use it in a house of 87m2 where, even with the low speed of 100mbit, I get the same coverage throughout the house. I should mention that although it supports 320MHz bandwidth, devices in Greece are limited to 160. I tested MLO with an iPhone 16 Plus, but iOS is limited to 160MHz and also has issues because it shows better connection at 6GHz, which doesn't make sense. However, this is an iOS issue. I am waiting for DEI for the 2.5 mbit and will use it with wireless meshing with U7-PRO-XGS. On the downside, I would like the throughput of IPS/IDS to be slightly higher (maybe at 2.5mbit instead of the current 2.3). Also, although it has 10GE SFP, with IPS/IDS enabled, it will bottleneck. So I don't see much reason for 10GE except for LAN and not WAN.
