Greece is going through dark times: many Athens citizens are falling into great poverty, some even resorting to suicide to escape the consequences of the economic crisis. But a mysterious assassin decides to take matters into his own hands by offering a somewhat radical antidote to the rise of tax evaders: hemlock, the poison that killed Socrates. Gradually, the one who proclaims himself as the "national collector" rises as a popular hero, exposing major corruption networks and causing panic at the highest levels of the state. Once again, it is Inspector Charitos who carries out the investigation, which will be quite a challenge for him. Will he be able to reconcile his duty as a policeman with his disillusioned conscience as a citizen?
