Description

“This book gives voice to those who, although their voice may have been lost or silenced for a long time, managed to find it again.”

The Stories of Strength with mental illness that you will read are real. They come from people who society often views through the filter of diagnoses: depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and many other forms of mental disturbance. However, people are not their diagnoses.

This is something we advocate and communicate continually at PsychologyNow.gr. That is why we never say “depressed,” “bipolar,” “schizophrenic,” words that not only stigmatize but also label people, stealing their dynamism and identity.

This was our idea when we thought about writing this book. We want to bring to light the authenticity and resilience of these people. For them, mental illness was not just a condition; it was a challenge to be faced, a struggle for their identity, for their relationships, and for their right to live and love.

The book “Soul Deposits - Stories of Strength with Mental Illness” is a tribute to those who have faced the dark side of their mental health and have found the strength to continue and emerge into the light. For some, this journey had joys and successes; for others, the cost was greater. However, they all contribute to the understanding that mental health is a right for all, that support must be offered to those who need it, and that no one should feel alone in this struggle.
