In 1937, a young veterinarian, James Herriot, gets a job in the wild, windswept valleys of Yorkshire, Britain. He learns to work with tough local farmers, unusual pet owners, and his disorganized boss, Siegfried. He deals with kicking cows, biting dogs, and angry horses, but he also finds love, eventually becoming a true Yorkshireman.
