Description

Description

The USA has traveled the entire path from a small power when it declared its independence to a unipolar superpower for a time after the end of the Cold War. Their high strategy thus allows for drawing many conclusions about the high strategy of both weak and strong actors.

At the same time, the book focuses on the peculiarities of American high strategy. In their first century and a half, the USA resorted to the deliberate encouragement of migratory inflows to promote their rise in international politics. In the 20th century, they combined realpolitik with their liberal ideology to develop international institutions and, after 1945, the alliances with which they won the Cold War.

However, American high strategy also had failures, mainly in the Third World, causing significant anti-American sentiment. The purpose of this book is to analyze the course of American high strategy from its beginnings in the 18th century to the present day in an objective, scientific manner.
