The Monopoly Pokémon Edition board game combines location exploration with Pokémon collecting. Players take on the role of Trainers, choose a Pokémon partner, and use Poké Balls instead of money. The goal is to collect eight different Pokémon types or be the last player with Poké Balls.

Locations include forests, cities, and Gyms. Players can explore controlled locations or battle their owners, while Adventure and Challenge cards affect the course of the game. Four plastic Pokémon partner tokens are included: Sprigatito, Fuecoco, Quaxly, and Pikachu.
