Description

Love, the sexual desire that is inherent to it, is at the forefront of the life drives, the forces that tend toward union, synthesis, and creation. When Eros and desire permeate the cells of the psychic system, then a person has a serious reason to exist and to create, as well as a counterbalance to the forces of decay and Death.

In this work, the phenomenon of Love is traced through the eyes of a psychoanalyst, at both ends of the spectrum: at its peak, as expressed in the shocking work of the poet Andreas Empirikos, where sexual desire is revealed in a unique way, reaching a zenith; and at its decline, in the modern era, where the twists of Love are completely different.

The conditions that make the emergence of Love extremely difficult are outlined in the second part of our work. The shocking changes brought about by the evolution of technology and the shift in morals have favored the emergence of a new constellation, on both a psychic and social level. The planets largely have an atmosphere that is unbreathable by Love, as two essential ingredients for its survival are absent: the Other and the body.

A new type of person is now emerging, in whom the instinct of the forces of Life seems to be degenerating. Sealed by Narcissism, the quintessential anti-Love, they reside in the empty palaces of their self, flooded with images.
