This is the story of a Palestinian prisoner who lives thirty years of captivity and serves as a love letter to the wall that surrounds and comforts him. Nasser Abu Srour grew up in a refugee camp in the West Bank, on the outskirts of Bethlehem. As a child, he played in its shadow and explored the small world within the camp. As he grew older, he began to ask questions about the boundaries that confined his existence. Later, he was sentenced to life imprisonment, with no hope of parole, and found himself surrounded by a physical wall.

This is the story of how, through thirty years of captivity, he forged a new concept of freedom. Turning to the writings of philosophers such as Derrida, Kierkegaard, and Freud, he begins to liberate himself from freedom as a question that demanded an answer, so as to maintain it as a dream. The wall becomes his fixed point of reference, his anchor, both physically and psychologically.

As each year brings new opportunities for the liberation of prisoners, he dares to hope and seeks refuge in the wall when these hopes are dashed. And, in a small miracle, he finds love with a lawyer from the outside world – while in her absence, the wall is his comfort and his curse.
