Sixty-five years later, an exile writes. Fragmentedly, he wants to narrate "various small stories and snapshots from daily life in exile": life in Ikaria, a mock execution, a beating, a group of converging events, characteristics of people, unheard words and phrases that he still remembers, after decades, "excursions," quirks, jokes, the anxiety for the then future - of war and the individual. He does not focus on events of "decisive" significance, for Greece, the movement, or the world. And yet, the historical significance of his testimony is thus more important: he speaks with the experience of thousands of people, talking about himself. He exposes his personal experience, his relationships with fellow exiles, narrates daily life.
