Emerson continues her life in the ashes of a town that was completely destroyed by fire. A fire that didn’t just take houses and land but also people and memories.
6 years later, he will return…
The one who had her heart, the one who disappeared without any explanation, the one who burned her before the fire had the chance to…
But isn’t it ironic, a firefighter burning hearts so easily?

Spark is the first novella in the Legacy series by Rebecca Yarros and when we say novella, we meant exactly that and nothing more. A short novel of 185 pages that develops a love story “clumsily” and hastily, a romance that lingers for years.
We are also given some information about the town and its experiences, as we will clearly need them in the next books (at least I hope so, otherwise why on earth did I read this novella?)

Overall, the story was okay and the chemistry between the characters was also okay… For the few pages it had at its disposal, I think Yarros conveyed very accurately the tension and passion that has been simmering for years in a couple that hasn’t been together at all.
What didn’t win me over at all were the love scenes in this book. I found some unnecessary and most of them very awkward. Why?

I don’t regret reading it. I had a pleasant time and Yarros’s writing, even though here more immature and unrefined, was something I had missed quite a bit. Also, even if this novella belongs to 2016, before the author became a phenomenon, we can see that there is something special and clever in her writing from her very first steps.

I recommend it to those who want a quick and easy read.
