In the West, civilization is a powerful brand, filled with accepted wisdom such as "knowledge is power," "time is money," and "justice is blind" that we rarely question. Following the teachings of Greek philosophy and shaped during the Age of Enlightenment, certain concepts about humanity and society have evolved into the rules that many of us still live by today. Yet, when we take a closer look at these ideas, it becomes clear that not everything is as it seems. In fact, some of them are blatant lies - and we can begin to ask who is really benefiting from them. What is the value of a scientific perspective that has invented "race"? Are Western concepts of "saving" and "wasting" time truly the best ways to live? Who are our laws really designed for? And the real question: are Westerners as civilized as they like to believe?
