This is the first book on the famous Chilean architect Cazu Zegers, who practices a highly ecological form of architecture based on the observation of the land and landscape where she builds. Often working with wood, Zegers has developed a philosophy regarding the way of inhabiting the land. Starting with what she calls poetic propositions, she arrives at unique, sustainable, and recyclable solutions that combine the traditional work of Chilean carpenters with contemporary techniques. In an almost metaphysical journey, where organic forms, curves, diagonals, and vertical combinations intertwine, Zegers affirms her emerging presence as a force in eco-oriented architecture. The book includes private residences, hotels, and sacred spaces that challenge the geographical grandeur of the Andean landscape. The projects include the Soplo (Breath) house, built in an urban environment, with life unfolding in a continuous flow between interior and exterior spaces, horizontally and vertically. The Tierra Patagonia hotel, linked with the poetic word Viento (Wind), rises next to steep mountains and the shimmering Sarmiento lake, at the entrance of Torres del Paine National Park, offering stunning views of Patagonia in a luxurious setting. The large book includes sketches for each project and is printed with a fifth color throughout.
