Description

One of the most prominent representatives of architecture, Isay Weinfeld is known for his work that exudes the power of classical modernism while being perfectly adapted to its time. Based in Brazil and active internationally, he is loved for his refined yet biophilic minimalism that marries stunning aesthetics with nature. His design seeks a superior coexistence, where the natural world and human creation function as complements rather than clashes, offering us the best of both worlds. Primarily, Weinfeld's buildings are pleasant to people, welcoming, and elegant, all without ostentation. His work ranges from residences and towers to bars, hotels, restaurants, equestrian centers, and bookstores, among others. He is more concerned with how people feel in his spaces and designs with the ultimate goal that every space—whether it's a residential interior, courtyard garden, restaurant, or simple corridor between rooms—be comfortable. Projects spanning nearly four decades are presented from Weinfeld's ongoing quest for beauty and intense dedication to the modernist principles of architecture, including the magnificent Jardim building in New York's Chelsea neighborhood, overlooking the High Line, the numerous accolades for the revolutionary reinvention of the Four Seasons restaurant in the iconic Seagram building, the moving La Petite Afrique building in Monaco, with its deep plant-filled balconies and organically curved corners, and the monolithic Fasano hotel in São Paulo, among others.
