Airfix has been producing commercial plastic models since 1952, and its models have been made by successive generations of young boys and men. In the 1960s, a talented graphic designer, Roy Cross, took on the task of painting some of Airfix's box covers, providing many of the stunning illustrations we see on the boxes for a period of ten years, setting new standards of realism and accuracy.
