Description

This book tells the story of James Crombie, one of the most recognized sports photographers in Ireland, who, during a November evening in 2020, decided to visit the shores of Lough Ennell. Having spent months traveling the world to capture stunning sports moments, he suddenly found himself in a period of silence due to the pandemic, where his attention could turn to other matters. When a close friend visited him during a difficult time, the two went out to the lake.

What Crombie discovered on the shore that evening - an invisible choir of swans dancing on the surface of the water - would change his life forever.

Determined to capture the beauty of this fleeting movement and to better understand the phenomenon and the environment of the lake, Crombie embarked on a four-year journey, visiting the lake's shore for more than 100 days each year. Through his efforts to document the formations of the enchanting birds, he managed to capture the amazing natural cycles of the lake and its surrounding landscape.

An incredible combination of storytelling and photography, this book documents one man's quest to capture the beauty of an Irish natural phenomenon and how the local environment conceals a wealth of beauty and complexity, if only we can look closely.

The book also includes an introduction by pioneering ornithologist Seán Ronayne. Pages: 224, Dimensions: 25.2x25.2cm.
