Karl König, founder of Camphill, was a prolific teacher and writer on a wide range of subjects, from anthroposophy and Christology to social relationships and therapeutic education, as well as science and history. The Karl König Archive is working on a publishing program for these works in the coming years. This is the fourth book published in the series.
In this remarkable collection of letters and essays by Karl König, the foundation of the education of individuals with special needs is examined and discussed. It shows that there are three key elements for a successful holistic approach to education and therapy: first, a positive social environment, which in the context of Camphill is achieved through small family units of caregivers and children; second, the work of caregivers is based on an insightful understanding of the nature and potential of each child and each disability; and third, that medical treatment is enriched with the courage to continue believing that the impossible is possible.
