Description

The approach to training football for developmental ages is completely different from that of adult training on educational-social, technical-tactical, and psychosocial levels. Coaches, football officials, and parents must adjust their attitudes to the needs of each age-developmental stage and not treat children as small adults.

This major issue is systematically and scientifically documented in the present work and aims to bridge the gap that exists in contemporary literature. The author, utilizing his football experience, knowledge, and continuous study of sports science, offers a comprehensive and objective analysis of the problem often encountered in Greek football academies and attempts to provide appropriate solutions.

Parents, coaches, administrators, and fans of children's football will literally find answers as all issues are presented in the form of questions and answers. The proposed philosophy elevates football to a combinatory game of mind and physical movement.

It emphasizes the long-term training process of learning, the mind, and the mental resilience of the young player. The primary goal of this theory, which is already applied in academies of advanced European teams, is to create well-rounded individuals who, even if they fail to pursue a professional career in football, will have a successful career outside of it.

Nikos Fragkos is a graduate of Panteion University, T.E.F.A.A. A.P.TH., holder of a master's degree from T.E.F.A.A. Serres (A.P.TH.) in the field of kinesiology of the athlete, an external scientific collaborator for developmental ages at E.P.S.M., scientific director of the camp “Vassilis Hatzipanagis,” and is professionally and amateurly involved in football in the city of Thessaloniki.
