A book-refuge that invites you to... skillfully shape your life

Do you feel tired from the fast pace of everyday life? Are you looking for a read that will help you slow down, reorganize your thoughts, and feel that life has meaning?
In a pottery workshop in Seoul, a woman learns how, season by season, to transform clay—and, at the same time, her inner world.

This book is for you if...

  • Do you want to learn how to incorporate calmness, art, and creativity into your daily life
  • Are you looking for stories that combine warm human emotion and a gentle inner journey
  • Do you appreciate books with atmosphere, community, and art as a therapeutic experience

  • Jungmin's journey, from overwork and loneliness to connecting with art
  • Each season has its own feeling and challenge, related to how wounds are healed
  • Manual process, where each object (plate, vase) reflects an emotional phase
  • Warm cast of characters sharing life stories in the workshop

Jong-Min still remembered the first time she was pricked by a thorn. Last autumn, the road was covered with fallen chestnuts, but she managed to pick up one that fortunately hadn’t been trampled. She brushed the dust off and opened the woody, thorny shell. It was hollow. Someone had probably already removed the nut. She tried to gather a few more chestnuts, but a well-hidden, unusually long and sharp thorn pierced her tender palm. Jong-Min squeezed the woody shell even harder. She wanted to punish her hand for writing so recklessly. Round drops of blood formed. The sharp pain spread from her palm to her spine and traveled down to her toes. Since then, Jong-Min hadn’t left the house again. This incident happened just three months after she moved to the Bamgasi settlement.

The summer of that year, when Jong-Min first visited that low-rise apartment complex, it was terribly hot. With sweat pouring down, house hunting had proven exhausting. Jong-Min was tired of moving every two years and, as a result, any place she called “home,” beyond its practical use, no longer appealed to her. “Is this the last house for today?” Jong-Min asked, visibly worn out. The real estate agent, telling her he had found a good property, had taken her all over Il-San, but she remained undecided.

The feel-good novel that will make you stop whatever you're doing and make a tea to read it on the balcony now that the weather has finally opened up!

Sweet, atmospheric, set in Seoul in a pottery workshop where, as the seasons change, the workshop brings its people closer and everyone shares their story. A narration of experiences that will make you think about how much it's worth living your daily life with pressure and stress, running daily to catch everything and leaving yourself behind. Each season that passes in the pottery workshop in Seoul heals a new wound of the protagonist, and with her, we also make an internal review.

An enjoyable story, a tribute to the art of pottery, and proof that in a world that moves very fast, it's worth finding a community and slowing down.
