WARNING: the book is strictly for adults as it contains intense scenes (spicy and violent). It includes graphic scenes of violence, sexually charged scenes, topics touching on mental health, murders, and also dark humor.

3.5 ⭐️ for a book I had insanely high expectations for!! And I can say I was not disappointed (somehow).

Now you’ll ask me why I gave it 3.5 when I *wasn’t* disappointed?

Soooo. First, let’s start with the fact that this book is super funny, it has a type of humor that I LOVE, a slow burn that sets your whole being on fire, a crazy story, and characters you want to marry.

Overall, I really liked the book a lot.
I liked Brynne’s writing even though I think I didn’t connect with it as much as I wanted! There were some scenes where I was disgusted but at the same time laughing (first time that’s happened to me, I usually get grossed out easily).

We’re talking about a book with serial killers. To be precise, they are serial killers who kill other serial killers for revenge. That’s how our protagonists connect and get to know each other, they have common hobbies.

The only thing I didn’t like was that up until about halfway through, it made me a bit bored, it didn’t keep me in suspense and I didn’t feel that urge I usually do—to want to keep reading at all costs. I think I could have given it a 4/5 but I believe the next one will be sooo much better so I’m saving points for that one ?

It is STRICTLY for ages 18+ and is a dark romantic comedy, the first part of the Ruinous Love trilogy. It combines dark humor, violence, and an unexpected love story between two serial killers.

The story follows two serial killers, Sloan and Rowan, who hunt other killers. After a chance encounter, they develop a strange friendship that evolves into an annual game: who will kill the next target first. As their relationship deepens, the ghosts of the past return and do not intend to leave them alone.
    ‍⬛
Tropes: friends-to-lovers, rivals-to-lovers, slow burn, “he falls first”, “touch her and die”, one bed.

    Smut level: High️️️

Trigger Warnings: Graphic violence (serial killings, blood), Dark humor around death and trauma, BDSM, PTSD, childhood trauma, psychological themes, murder and discussions of abuse.

    My opinion:
Despite the disgusting scenes that I can't get over, it was a book I truly loved. It had endless humor, unique characters, lots of action, and wonderful romantic scenes. It is quite different from other dark romances I have read, and I can confidently say it is worth trying if you are into the genre or thinking of slowly getting into it. Rowan was a little god, our protagonist unique in her own beautiful way, and their chemistry? Simply dreamy! I can't wait for the next in the series, which I learned is about the protagonist's siblings.

Simply perfect. In Greek, in my opinion, it is very difficult to find a nice dark romance, but this is one of the best I've read. I highly recommend it

“I would kill for you, and I did. I would do it again, every day. I would do anything for you. I would die for you. I don't just like you, Sloane, and you know it damn well.” - Rowan

What can truly unite two people?
    A song?
    Their first shared walk?
    A beautiful memory?
    A trip?
Sloane and Rowan, however, are united by an annual murder competition!!!!
Are you ready for absolute chaos?

A Dark Romance love story that will make you cry with laughter. With scenes straight out of a good comedy and a touch of black humor, this book really delivers.

The characters are hilarious. Their chemistry is enviable and their story... you could call it sweet. This boy Rowan, what a shock did he get? We're talking about very delusional psyches.

Be careful, I don't want you to get confused. We're not just talking about a comedy, we're also talking about a bit of... disgust, so if you're one of those who faints at the sight of blood... better avoid it.

In other news, there is also a bit of suspense and mystery that adds more interest to the whole story. It has a small, good plot twist which somehow I didn't expect.

And now you'll ask about the spice and I'll tell you “GO FOR IT GUUUUUURL” because it has it and it's really good although... for a dark romance book it's quite slow burn. “Is that bad?” you'll ask me, not necessarily I'll tell you, but everyone has their quirks, my friend.

    WARNING
This book comes with a huge list of warnings that are necessary to read especially if it's your first encounter with such a book. Strictly for ages OVER 18!!!!

I recommend it to those who need something to laugh their heart out and to those who watched Scary Movie on repeat, non-stop.
