The player takes on the role of the Viceroy, with a mission from the Withered Queen to restore nature and discover lost treasures for the Smoking City, the last bastion of civilization against the Magma Storm that destroyed the old world. Unlike most survival city-building games, Against the Storm requires the creation of an extensive, robust network of settlements inhabited by various fantasy races, each with their own specializations and needs. Nature hides many hidden dangers, and the endless storms strike the population into submission. If the settlements fail, the mission may be completed – but not the game. Against the Storm is a roguelite city-building game, meaning that resources, upgrades, and experience from previous missions carry over each time a new adventure in nature begins.
As the battle for survival against the Magma Storm continues, Against the Storm - Keepers of the Stone introduces a new race, two new biomes, and a selection of new buildings, orders, dangers, and opportunities for any Viceroy ready to face the challenge. The Frogs join the effort to repel the storm, bringing with them their stonecutting skills and love for water. At the same time, a change in the tides has unleashed new potential on the horizon – the Coastal Hills have finally become accessible after countless cycles beneath the devastation. Although they remain isolated and difficult to reach, the ancient submerged settlements in the area hide valuable treasures waiting to be uncovered.
Against the Storm - Keepers of the Stone includes:
- The reception of the respectable Frogs into the settlements and the utilization of their specialization in stonecutting, their comfort found in rainwater, and their ability to increase the rate at which new citizens join the settlements.
- Housing holds a special place among their desires – with excessive pride, the new Frogs refuse to live in normal dwellings, demanding the construction of special Upgradable Frog Houses. Each upgrade level introduces significant changes to the functionality of the housing, making it a critical target in harsh conditions.
