The Extralink OPIM-1500W power inverter is a device that converts the battery voltage output (direct current, DC) into 230V AC (alternating current). The 230V AC is the type of current supplied by power outlets to power standard household appliances such as televisions, refrigerators, radios, lamps, or to charge laptops/mobile phones. If you already have a charged battery, connecting an inverter will allow you to power household appliances in areas without access to the electrical grid, such as in caravans, boats, or other remote locations. Inverters are also ideal for standalone systems and backup power systems in case of power outages.

This is a modified sine wave inverter, meaning that the 230V AC output is an approximate sine waveform. This solution is cheaper than pure sine wave inverters, however, due to the characteristics of the power output, it is not recommended for use with inductive motors, such as those used in central heating.
