The board game City of Iron: Second Edition is a strategy game for 2–4 players, who compete to develop a small nation in a world of machines, magic, and money. Each player takes charge of one of four rival nations: the hard-working people, the mechanical frogs, the scholarly Cresarians, or the resourceful hogmen. Producing goods such as machine parts and bottled demons generates wealth, while researching steam-age technologies and recruiting mercenaries help players gain control of the continent.
To establish new cities, players build schooners or airships to reach distant regions and flying islands. City space is limited, so players must choose which buildings to keep or demolish to make way for more advanced ones. This edition features revised specialist cards, a simpler auction for turn order, and different endgame scoring objectives based on each player’s contract cards and regions.
