UPDATE 28/8/2025: With a double NOVA VDSL line 50mbps/5Mbps (2 x Zyxel VMG8623-T50B) it was not able to provide network to the TP-Link SG1024D. No matter what two people with basic network knowledge tried, it did not work. In fact, it did not even provide access to the Omada management interface (192.168.0.1, which is also the default IP). The instructions for resolving IP conflict were followed, i.e., changing the LAN IP of one of the two modem-routers to 192.168.2.1 (a different subnet), but as soon as this was done, it provided only telephone service and no internet. Tragic, whichever way you look at it...

First impression and it already seems that the level has risen for Omada-type devices compared to the simple ones. It was purchased together with a 24-port TP-Link unmanaged switch to provide dual-WAN (NOVA + NOVA) VDSL network to a small business (5 computers, 4 printers, 1 recorder).

The firmware upgrade was done as soon as it arrived, as it was one version behind, and then I configured the Link Backup & Fail Over, which interested me as you will see below.

I am already giving 5 stars because the support from TP-Link Hellas is amazing. I am also attaching one of the emails I had with the technical department that helped me a lot!

I will return for a full review once its installation is completed and it is tested in real conditions.

I have had it for 1 year and 2 months. I got it while I had VDSL because I had many disconnections (maybe 20 in a day, I changed the wiring, technicians came several times, nothing...) and since I work from home, I didn't want to switch from the VDSL Router to the 4G router and back every now and then. Now that I switched to FTTH, I kept it because the provider's router seems very limited to me.

Minus 1 star because:
- the failover between 2 WANs takes 1+ minute.
- the setup takes time and familiarity with the router.

On the positive side:

If you enable load balancing between 2 (or more) connections, in torrents, steam downloads, and generally anything that does parallel downloads, you can fully utilize the total speed. WARNING! It does NOT work this way for downloading files from a browser, etc. It is not a problem with the router; it is normal since you are making a single connection to the server.

It supports multiple VPN protocols (OpenVPN/Wireguard and for the more old-school types L2TP/PPTP/IPsec).

If you have smart devices, and load balancing is active, you can bind them to go out from a single network so you don't have issues (Tuya, I'm looking at you).

You can set up VLANs to "cut off" communication between specific devices if you don't trust them.

Its USB can be used either for Modem or for Storage where you will keep a backup of the config.

If your provider's router supports bridge mode, you can make the ER605 perform the PPPoE call and essentially make it function as the router.

Except for the delay in failover, it is a reliable machine, ideal for home office/small office.

The purpose of purchasing the router was to combine a problematic 100Mbps VDSL connection with a 5G mobile connection in order for the latter to function as a backup for the former and to accelerate both the upload (more important) and download (pleasant side effect) of large files from university servers. However, not all internet traffic of the house should pass through the 5G connection...
This specific device is perfect for "amateur" use and especially for the aforementioned scenario because: it is very affordable, has a small size, more than covers household needs, and is relatively easy to configure. Of course, if you struggle with the routers provided by telecommunications companies, you will definitely need help with this one. However, those of you who have some experience with networks will not have much difficulty. The manual is helpful and there are also some guides on YouTube.
I haven't worked with the router enough to write an objective and detailed review. I will do it when I have the relevant experience. What I want to do is give a hint to everyone who wants to combine 2-3 internet connections (wired or mobile) to power an internal network (home or small business): This specific router will do the job! Just remember, the key to achieving balancing is not the "Transmission → LoadBalancing → Basic Settings" menu (you will need that too), but the "Transmission → Routing → Policy Routing" menu.
Allow me, also, to inform those who do not know that if, for example, a 100Mbps connection is combined with a 50Mbps connection, we cannot download a file at a speed of 150Mbps. The two lines are not combined for downloading the same file. This is not a problem with this specific router, it is generally not feasible.

I use it in a small office with about 10 computers. We are IT specialists, so the installation did not bother us. The purpose was to utilize an INALAN optical (250/250) and a Cosmote VDSL (10/100) primarily for failover and secondarily for load balancing.
We discovered that load balancing also offers failover (as expected, but not explicitly mentioned anywhere).
Load balancing means that it will send each PC to a different line (with adjustable priority), it will not give one PC the full combined bandwidth of the two lines.
From our measurements, the interference in front of each Internet Access Router did not seem to impose a cost, with CPU utilization not exceeding 20%-40%.
The time it takes to realize that one line has dropped and transfer all the loads to the other is about 1 minute with any method we tried, so we left it on automatic.
For the average user who wants to utilize two lines, it is easy to install.
For anyone who wants more features, some reading will be required, as it is not a typical Internet Access Router.
Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase.
NOTE 1: It accepts a USB stick as a 4G/5G modem, which I find very useful, although we have not tested it.
NOTE 2: Port Forwarding can be found in the Virtual Servers menu!!
