The surgical suture PROFIMED-PTFE is a sterile monofilament non-absorbable surgical suture made from polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) polymer.

It is indicated for holding soft tissues in contact or for approximation, including use in cardiac and dental surgeries. It is not indicated for ophthalmic surgeries, microsurgery, and peripheral nerve tissue.

After implantation, it causes a very small local tissue inflammation, characteristic of a foreign body reaction, followed by the corresponding local development of fibrous connective tissue.
