The MC111CS is a media converter that transfers data from the copper UTP100Base-TX connection to 100BASE-FX fiber optic or vice versa. It adopts WDM technology for transmitting and receiving data through a single fiber cable, thus saving half of the cabling cost.
Designed according to IEEE 802.3u 10/100Base-TX and 100Base-FX standards, the MC111CS is intended for use with single-mode fiber optic cable with SC plug. It supports long-wavelength (LX) laser specifications with the maximum retransmission rate through the cable. It operates at 1550nm for data transmission and at 1310nm for data reception. Therefore, the device on the opposite end communicating with the MC111CS should operate at 1310nm for data transmission and at 1550nm for data reception.
The MC112CS is another TP-LINK media converter and is just an example of converters that can work together with the MC111CS. Other features of this model include the ability to operate as a standalone device (independent of chassis) or with a chassis for TP-LINK's 19" media converters, auto MDI/MDI-X detection for the TX port, auto negotiation of duplex mode for the TX port, and LED indicators for displaying operational status on the front panel.
The MC111CS offers single-mode fiber optic transmission capabilities over extensive distances up to 20 km. It complies with 802.3u 10/100Base-TX and 100Base-FX standards. The Link Fault Passthrough and Far End Fault functions minimize downtime caused by connection failures. It adopts WDM technology for transmitting and receiving data through a single fiber cable.
