The TP-LINK MC111CS media converter transfers data between a UTP 100Base-TX copper connection and 100BASE-FX fiber. It uses WDM technology to transmit and receive over a single-mode fiber with an SC connector. It supports transmission distances of up to 20 km and complies with the IEEE 802.3u 10/100Base-TX and 100Base-FX standards.

It operates at 1550 nm for transmission and 1310 nm for reception, so the device at the other end of the connection must use the opposite wavelengths. The TX port supports automatic MDI/MDI-X detection and automatic duplex negotiation. Link Fault Passthrough and Far End Fault functions help reduce downtime caused by connection failures, while the front-panel LEDs indicate operating status.
