The MONSEL solution is a viscous solution of iron sulfate that acts as a hemostatic agent when applied to surgical sites after biopsy or excision of patient tissue.
The Monsel paste formulation adheres to the surgical area and effectively stops bleeding. The product is aqueous as the fresh paste matures over time and oxidizes with air. As it matures, it thickens more. The active ingredient of the paste remains always the same. If the product is used as paste, it is recommended to allow it to mature.
