The PROFIMED-PTFE surgical suture is a sterilized monofilament non-absorbable suture made from polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) polymer. It is indicated for the retention of soft tissues in contact or approximation, for use in cardiovascular and dental procedures.
The use of PROFIMED-PTFE is not indicated for ophthalmic procedures, microsurgery, and peripheral nerve tissue. After implantation, it causes minimal local tissue inflammation, characterized by a reaction to a foreign body, followed by the development of fibrous connective tissue.
