"Loving you is like dancing slowly in a room that's on fire. You know you have to leave, but you want to finish the song and see what the next one will be, even if the flames are already touching you." - Michael

Over time, many books have been inspired by the No. 1 love story of all time, Pride and Prejudice. But what happens when our favorite story takes shape again in the Italian countryside with comedic twists and scenes that have you doubled over with laughter?
An inheritance, an estate, 2 bachelors, and Eliza Bennet who somehow ends up meeting her Darcy again ️
Because Elizabeth and Darcy will always meet, in every era, in every book, in every little countryside….

The Queen of Italian rom-com returns and will of course win you over with the unique and addictive way she alone knows how to capture her stories. Comedic scenes, lots of mishaps, a bit of a past hiding some secrets, and an old acquaintance that will be rekindled in the present.

This book transported me to the Italian countryside and made me feel a part of it with its beautiful descriptions and successful depiction of the scenes. The characters all seemed to come from a small community that forgot itself somewhere in a past decade, while the story itself takes you on a journey and relaxes you before you even realize it.

Finally, I admire the way this book shows its influences from J. Austen but has managed to give its characters their own right without becoming a bad copy of the original.

It’s definitely not my favorite by the author but I swear Felicia Kingsley always finds her way to win you over and keep you. She never disappoints.

I recommend it to anyone who has more than one edition of Pride and Prejudice on their bookshelf

Description & Specifications

Belvedere of Chianti, the small village in the hills of Tuscany where olives and vineyards abound but bachelors are in short supply, is in turmoil: Charles Bingley, nephew of the late Count Ricasoli, returns from England to take over his inheritance. The news has mobilized potential mothers-in-law, who are ready for anything to settle their daughters with Charles or his equally charming, wealthy, and unmarried friend Michael Darcy.

The husband hunt, on the other hand, leaves Eliza, a childhood friend of the two young men, completely indifferent. She is trying to figure out what will happen with the estate, as her great passion is the vineyard and wine production. However, the intentions of the newcomers are anything but clear.

Several years have passed since she played with Michael. Their lives have taken different paths, albeit with equally well-hidden secrets. Can two people who were so close end up as enemies? And what if they suddenly discover feelings they never imagined, feelings so intense that they can no longer ignore them? In Belvedere, the town where everyone has something to say, nothing stays hidden for long…

This book is for you if...

  • Do you enjoy French-Italian romantic stories with meaning?
  • Are you looking for a heroine who chooses her own path — return home or climb higher in the vineyard?
  • Do you appreciate characters who play with the past and the "what if?"

What will it offer you?

A warm, atmospheric romantic comedy where Eliza seeks balance between her family, her personal business (the vineyard), and an old friendship that smells... more than just of wine.

Inside the book you will find:

  • The beginning of a beloved triangle in a village full of olive trees & vineyards
  • A "in-laws" committee that seems to manipulate the heart… and the choices
  • A heroine who persists: Eliza — torn between family tradition and her personal path
  • Scenery that transports you — Tuscany, fields, wine and a journey towards self-confidence
