You need to sleep well—and in a quiet hollow in the forest, one sleeps very well—and wake up at the right time. Then, you must make your bed and dress yourself, if you can, or if you are too small, with help from mom, dad, or an older sibling. Of course, you need to wash up—the spring water is clear and cold, just right to refresh you. Next comes breakfast, which will surely be delicious, but first, someone has to prepare it.

In the Mouse family, everyone helps to prepare the meal, each in their own way, which is why it is always incredibly tasty. Each day begins the way we want it to. It is only in our power.

We are a family of 14 mice: dad, mom, grandpa, grandma, and 10 siblings: Bradut, Codrut, Sanziana, Petruta, Mugur, Bujor, Merisor, Brandusa, Romanita, and Ghiocel.

Kazuo IWAMURA was born in Tokyo in 1939. He studied art and design, and began his career as a graphic designer for children's programs at NHK, the Japanese television. He also worked as a designer in a cosmetics company, after which he decided to become an author and illustrator of children's books. He has published dozens of titles, in Japan and around the world. Among the most beloved are the books about the everyday adventures of the Mouse family—books about the warm, bright, and loving universe of childhood and family life.
