The poetry of Socrates Malamas captures collective and existential anxieties in a suggestive and Doric manner. In many of his songs, his aversion to the metropolis, the alienation in everyday relationships, the disillusionments, and the impasses of modern life are evident. Other pieces transcend individual experience and acquire an almost metaphysical dimension.

The main thematic axes of the poetic biography are the social criticism that the creator expresses through his songs, his perspective on the "city" in an era of constant social mobility, the experiential essence, and the romantic dimension of his lyrics.
