The intensity of the discussion about Church-State relations remains constantly unabated in Greek public discourse, as it constitutes an issue ripe for value wars. The Institute of Conservative Policy (INSPOL - conservatives.gr) presents the study "Liberation of the Church from the State: Church-State relations and their future evolution," which is based on its research on Church-State relations in Greece and Europe, the arising problems and the criticism exercised, as well as the possibilities for future evolution of the current situation. Specifically, the research focuses on (a) the legal status of Church-State relations in Greece and Cyprus, (b) the presence of the issue in Greek public discourse, (c) the formation of economic and tax relations between churches and states in Europe, and finally (d) the organizational fragmentation of the Church in Greece into five different jurisdictions, a key ecclesiastical issue that decisively affects Church-State relations, although it is usually absent from related discussions. The book presents a proposal for the future evolution of Church-State relations, away from the extremism or stagnation that usually characterizes each of the opposing "factions" in public discourse. In such a perspective, the goal is the liberation of the Church from the State in Greece today.
