Technical Specifications:

A Neutral Density or ND filter is a "gray" filter that reduces the amount of light reaching the film or sensor without affecting color balance. Its purpose is to allow the photographer greater flexibility when changing aperture or exposure time, providing more control in extreme conditions, such as very bright days. This filter can be used to prevent strong overexposure even when using a slow shutter speed, and is ideal for shooting in intense light conditions or for long exposures.

The ND Filter offered is double-threaded with 2×, 4×, and 8× (ND2, ND4, ND8) to indicate the amount of light it can reduce. Different neutral densities have different effects. You can use the filter individually or in any combination to suit your needs.

It is used in four main cases:

• To allow the use of slow shutter speeds, especially with fast film, to capture movement in subjects such as waterfalls, clouds, cars, sea, etc.
• To reduce depth of field by allowing the use of wider apertures, which helps subjects stand out from their background.
• To reduce the effective ISO of fast film (e.g.: above ISO400) and allow its use outdoors in bright conditions.
• To enable movie and video cameras (which have fixed shutter speeds) to record subjects such as snowy landscapes, sand, or other bright scenes that would normally cause overexposure.
