Description & Specifications

The Mandra was created during Les Stroud's expedition in the Carpathians while filming new episodes of the Survivorman show. The Carpathians are a mountain range stretching 1450 kilometers across areas of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Ukraine, Romania, and Serbia. In many areas, the Carpathians remain unaffected by human interventions, where peaks rising to 2.5 kilometers coexist with picturesque valleys. In addition to the mountainous and unpredictable climate, the Carpathians also offer a wealth of flora and fauna, with the largest population of bears, while leopards, wolves, and wild goats inhabit the wilderness.

Its historical dimension is also rich in facts. The Carpathians are a meeting point of Europe and Asia. The region, known as Transylvania, is home to the legendary Count Dracula.

The Mandra was created on a film set. Les Stroud used original models during the shooting. The improvements and final appearance are the result of Les's experience and the knowledge of Anders Haglund, one of the heads of Helle. Mandra, meaning "Pride" in Romanian, shares the same name as the hill from which the rescue team picked up Les after his mission.
