The classic family cast iron Dutch oven from Origin Outdoors is ideal for use directly over a fire, in a wood-fired oven, on the BBQ, or in the fireplace. The lid of the Dutch oven can be turned upside down and used as a griddle or skillet, over a fire or coals.
When placed on the Dutch oven, the lid creates the perfect cooking conditions, as all the heat is trapped inside and cooks the food evenly from all sides. The lid features a special hole for a food thermometer.
The Dutch oven is already pre-seasoned and ready to use, coated with vegetable oil that creates the proper non-stick layer to prevent food from sticking. Cast iron cookware has excellent ability to retain stable heat during cooking, which is why it is used by top chefs worldwide.
Cooking in a Dutch oven is generally slow: food is cooked slowly, without temperature fluctuations, retaining its juices and creating a very flavorful result. Cooking in cast iron cookware is healthier because there are no artificial chemical compounds like Teflon.
