Wood Selection & Dreadnought Acoustic Geometry
The Martin D-10E-01 Sapele LH features a traditional 14-fret Dreadnought design with the neck joining the body at the 14th fret, providing generous internal air volume for powerful acoustic projection and full low frequencies. The choice of solid sapele for the top, back and sides produces a dense, focused acoustic tone with a quick response, natural compression and pronounced midrange presence, comparable to the tonal character of traditional mahogany. The guitar responds precisely to both strumming and fingerstyle techniques.
Brace Architecture & Mortise and Tenon Joint Construction
Inside the instrument, a 5/16" (7.94 mm) Non-Scalloped X-Brace system made of Sitka spruce is specially shaped to accommodate the structure and string tension of a left-handed configuration. The braces’ unscalloped geometry gives the soundboard greater mechanical strength while providing more controlled, even frequency separation without excessive bass resonance. The neck is firmly attached to the body at the 14th fret with a Mortise & Tenon Neck Joint, ensuring a rigid connection and unobstructed transmission of sound waves throughout the instrument.
Fishman MX-T Electronics with Built-In Tuner
Electro-acoustic amplification is provided by the Fishman MX-T system, which features a piezoelectric transducer mounted under the saddle and an analog preamp discreetly housed inside the soundhole. The rotary volume (Volume) and tone (Tone) controls are located on the upper rim of the soundhole, while a high-contrast digital tuner display is integrated at the bottom. When the tuner is activated, the system automatically mutes the audio output (auto-mute), allowing silent tuning on stage without disconnecting a cable or using external equipment.
Performing Artist Ergonomics & Richlite Composite Materials
The neck features the ergonomic Performing Artist profile combined with the High-Performance Taper design, maintaining a consistent, comfortable thickness from the 1-3/4" (44.5 mm) nut width to 2-1/8" (54 mm) at the 12th fret, for smooth left-hand movement across the entire fretboard. The fretboard and Modern Belly bridge are made from FSC Certified Richlite, an eco-friendly, high-density composite material unaffected by changes in humidity and temperature. The white Corian nut and Tusq compensated saddle ensure accurate intonation and optimal energy transfer from the strings.
