The need to update the work with the recent amendments to the Code of Criminal Procedure (CCP), which occurred with Law 5090/2024, has led to this sixth edition. Beyond that, with the successive partial amendments, there is always the risk of weakening the operational coherence of the CCP. At the same time, the legislative contraction of the pre-trial process, arguing for the acceleration of the proceedings, has largely led to a limitation of defense rights. However, this does not contribute to the qualitative upgrade of the criminal trial. Therefore, the need for a clear and harmonious integration and interpretation of the new provisions in the CCP is now imperative, as attempted in this work.
Additionally, there is always an effort to combine theory and practice, in light of the endemic gap between them, on issues such as the specific and detailed reasoning of criminal decisions, primarily regarding the collection of evidential materials, etc., offering solutions with direct practical application. The work covers the entire subject of Criminal Procedural Law, analyzing complex procedural issues in a concise but comprehensive manner.
In this way, the book serves as a useful aid that, with its systematic structure and clear language, ensures the understanding of Criminal Procedural Law as a whole, both for students and for practicing lawyers.
